Head Start/Center-Based
A federally funded comprehensive preschool program for low-income children ages birth through five-year old’s. It provides children with a developmentally appropriate early childhood education. The Program ensures that young children get health checkups and treatment, oral health screenings, and that they are fed two nutritious hot meals and a snack.
Early Head Start/ Home-Based
A federally funded community-based program for low-income families to promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, enhance the development of very young children (0-3) and to promote healthy family functioning. Provides early, continuous, intensive and comprehensive child development and family support services on a year-round basis to children under age three and pregnant women.
Center-based program provides early childhood education to infants and toddlers. The program focuses on school readiness, physical wellness and the cognitive and social-emotional development of children from infancy until they are ready to transition. (Serves ONLY Florence & Marion counties)
Home-based services are provided to pregnant women and children ages birth to 36 months old and their families. A home educator makes weekly 1½ hour visits to provide comprehensive services in the family's home. (Serves ONLY Lower Florence: Pamplico & Lake City)
SC First Steps 4K Program
A state funded comprehensive early childhood education initiative & partnership that provides set-aside funds to ensure school success for four years old eligible children only at no cost.

SC ABC Voucher “Wrap Around” Program
A state funded After-school care program that provides set-aside funds for Head Start enrolled children. Head Start siblings’ ages 3-12 yrs. are also served. Services are from 2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m./HS and 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m./EHS. Monday - Friday to participants whose’ parents are currently working, in job training, or enrolled in school. Applications are limited due to slot allocations.
